Gre Score Applicability in Admissions

Gre (Graduate narrative Examination) unlike Gmat (Graduate administration Aptitude Test) covers assorted streams of students for admission into higher schooling programmes. While Gmat score is applicable for admission in enterprise schools only. So one must wonder that how an admission school decided the general score applicability while choosing the student from different streams.

Gre score is scaled by different schools on the different criteria. For example if a student is applying for admission into an arts programme, then higher weightage will be given to his/her verbal thinking marks in comparison to other sections. But for a student opting for science, engineering or other technology related programme, his/her quantitative marks will make the admission chances higher, due to higher weightage given to quantitave thinking marks for such programmes. Also it has been the norm for the past few years that student belonging to science, mathematics and engineering stream accomplish on the lower side, thus verbal may also play the spoiler sort, if one end up on median operation in quantitative section.

Beside Gre score, these graduate schools also consider candidate candidate's letter of recommendation, Sop (statement of purpose) etc. To contain the score in application rating. Some graduate school consider Gre score for awarding merit based fellowship and scholarship while other schools may not quiz, it only for general admission purpose, if they are not gift any scholarship or such services.
